I gave a recent keynote to a senior business audience in Denver, Colorado, hosted by the World Trade Center + Denver Economic Development Organisation, on the method of ‘Emotional Leadership’. In this talk I explore how leaders can advance their skills from Emotional Intelligence + Emotional Agility, to Emotional Leadership - creating a system for measuring emotional data as signals, and using it for human & business innovation. For decades I worked in predominantly male environments, with low diversity. I hustled and at times fought my way to seniority, but not without scars. Today I celebrate the increasing rise of Female Leaders into executive and board positions, and believe that those - like me - who have successfully navigated the challenge of leading in organisations with low authorised diversity, can share much to future female leaders on the power of feminine leadership. This topic touches on how to bring out the best in minority groups, speak ‘truth to power’ and know when it’s time to leave.

A recent keynote for Grant Thornton Internationals World-Wide partnership summit in Malaysia, based on a speech delivered at NZ Trade & Enterprises World Leading Better by Design Summit, on the topic of Design Thinking as a method for accelerating innovation. Trained in Design Thinking from Stanford’s prestigious D-School, I have now coached over 50 businesses in how to integrate the principles of innovation pioneered in Silicon Valley, and still used by leading brands worldwide - to build innovation cultures. These sessions tend to be interactive and leave audiences with a powerful ‘aha’ shift on the true power of a proven creative & design process, thats accessible to all to unlock latent productivity.

Careers are one of our most precious and fragile assets. In the Fourth Industrial Revolution/Age of AI we are being required to think differently about how we are working. For many of us, we will live to 100. Which means we now have the potential to have 3 or 4 careers in one lifetime - something our fore-bearers could only have dreamed of. And yet with immense optionality, can come anxiety. Whether its speaking to Students, Middle Managers or CEOs - this is one of my favourite topics - how to know when to leave. Appling HCD to one of the world’s most wicked problems most people will face at least once in their lifetime, I’m passionate about helping people find work they will love.
